Fears and Phobias

Most people seem to have one or two phobias, and often it may seem not to affect their life a great deal. They may avoid situations that will make them have to confront their fears, for example; not taking foreign holidays if they are have a phobia of flying, or not mowing the lawn because the lawn mower is in the garden shed where the spiders live!

People seem to find it difficult to understand other people’s phobias yet will give you vast and comprehensive explanations of their own. The point is that all phobias are irrational fears, and here it needs to be pointed out that there is a difference between rational and irrational fears. If you stood in the street and an escaped lion is running towards you, it is not only rational that you feel fear, but also essential so that you can take action, like running as fast as you can. If, however, you will not get on a plane, even knowing that flying is one of the safest forms of travel, and being aware that in any one day a million people take to the air and live to tell the tale - that is an irrational fear. Just as spiders are small insects that do no harm to people in this country, and even in countries where there are poisonous ones, the chance of being bitten is very small.

Whatever a person’s phobia is, it is a very real and intense fear and sometimes can have a very detrimental effect on a person’s life. But you do not have to put up with it. Hypnoanalysis/Analytical Therapy can rid you of your phobias. Even if you think they only affect you in a mild way, why put up with them?
